The role of the Wharton Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Board (WAB) is explored, analyzed and described in a fascinating article published in the Wharton Journal and written by Taek Jho Low in the fall of 2000.

At the beginning of the academic year the WAB organized a successful event, the “Discussion Seminar.” Some of Wharton’s best and most well-known professors were involved, which helped focus the seminar to make sure the most pressing issues of concern to students were addressed so that Wharton students continue to strive for greatness in the best conditions.

According to freshman Akheel Pragjee, “The WAB has successfully allowed the faculty and students to work together in order to improve academic programs.”

Another Wharton freshman, Simon bland agreed. “I believe that WAB is an excellent avenue of communication between faculty and students which ultimately enhances the Wharton community and provides a platform for faculties/student relations.”

The Wharton Journal is an influential publication of the Wharton School of Business Management to which many business leaders have been periodic contributors.

In the October, 2000 issue Taek Jho Low analyzed and explained the role that the Wharton Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Board (WAB) plays in the life of students and the famous University of Pennsylvania School.

The WAB was founded in 1983 by former Dean Russel Palmer and was endowed with an important mission. First of all, the WAB is the link and connector between students, administration and faculty at Wharton. In this way there is enhanced communication between the three bodies, hopefully solving small problems before they develop into large ones and helping to improve areas which are of concern to undergraduates which might otherwise go unnoticed and unheeded.

According to Taek Jho Low, who interviewed two members of the WAB for the article, one thing that is a great benefit to the workings of the WAB is the group structure.

As one member of the WAB put it, “We do not have a formal multi-leveled structure. The WAB board is very flat and effective; everyone that voices their opinion is heard.”
And that is one of the secrets of their success.

The prestigious Wharton Journal, a publication in association with the Wharton School of Business Management and the University of Pennsylvania, is the perfect place for young business people to have their voice heard.

In the fall of 2000 Taek Jho Low contributed an article to the Journal entitled, “Dean’s Board Provides Necessary Service.” In this article Taek Jho Low describes the mission of the Wharton Dean’s Undergraduate Advisory Board (WAB), which is to actively engage in the interests of the school’s students and faculty of the Wharton School by creating policies which help encourage and facilitate communication between students, teachers and administration.

The WAB is endowed with the mission of advising on policy and implementing projects with the goal of working in together with the Dean and the administration so that the undergraduate experience for Wharton’s students can be the best it can possibly be.
